Quick Update

Hello friends and family!

Kenzie and I (Hillary) had a very rough weekend (5/25-5/26). Kenzie is a tough little girl who isn't a big fan of q-tips. I know this because after her bath, she wiggles and screams when I try to clean her ears! On Friday, the 25th, she wiggled too violently and I scratched her ear canal, causing blood and a major mommy freak-out. It was 7:30 p.m. when this happened, so clearly all pediatricians were off and home. Lucky for me our pediatrician's office has an after-hours triage nurse available. I called and left a message, finally an hour later I was told to take her in immediately to be checked out. Ear trauma is taken seriously. She referred me to "Good Night Pediatrics" and when I *finally* found the location, we were on our way...

...45 minutes later we arrived! Yes, it took that long. I was directed towards the corporate office. BIG TIME GPS FAIL! We arrived at the actual location (3rd Ave and Clarendon) and were luckily the only ones there. Until a child the age of 8 came in with a foot that had been run over... BUMMER.

Around 9:45 we were seen by the doctor who took a long, thorough look in her ear. The canal had, in fact, been scratched. However the ear drum, thank goodness, was unharmed. It was a little red and irritated, but all-in-all OK. Nothing a little antibiotics couldn't treat. She fights us DAILY when it's time to give her the meds and drops, but we get it done! She even gets a little treat for being a good sport ;) She's doing fine, so yay!!

On a much happier note, I've cleaned out and sifted through my camera, and now have more room for more pictures. So enjoy!

Kenzie Scoots!

Kenzie's awesome cousin, Riley, gave her a scooter that was once hers.Kenzie was very hesitant at first, but lately she's taken a very large interest in scootin' around the apartment.

Today we decided to take a little stroll outside and Kenzie was determined to push along side me, she did great! She rode in style!

Also, and I cannot believe I haven't mentioned this yet, but on May 4th Kenzie started a daycare/preschool! It's an in-home care with a certified teacher who has added on beautiful rooms to accommodate her kids/students. She has computers, tv's, desks, cubbies, etc... They have an outdoor area filled with slides, swings, a very large (and shaded) sandbox, and plenty of bikes/wagons to keep the kids entertained! We loved it from the start.....

.... Kenzie, however, did NOT enjoy it. She is getting much better at being left, but still has days of extremem sadness. I hear though, from a little bird, that she is fine within seconds of me leaving (I know, totally normal). She enjoys her friends and Miss Laura says she just adores sitting at the desk during preschool time. Her favorite time, and this doesn't surprise me, is when they go outside. Miss Laura says it's the only time Kenzie doesn't interact with anyone. She plays by herself and is just so happy, being outside is her safe haven. Any other time, she's a social butterfly! She is learning to enunciate words better and is learning to share her day with us. It's beautiful!

That's it for now :) Until next time...
