4th of July - Sans Fireworks

Fourth of July this years was very low key and quiet. John was working, so Kenzie and I journeyed off to my dad's house for some good, old-fashioned BBQ. The weather was overcast, so we did not go swimming. Also, Kenzie and I were in bed by 8 p.m. so we did not partake in viewing fireworks. Aside from our early bedtime and not swimming, we really enjoyed our time.

Here are some fun pictures:

Summer Swim

How do we handle Arizona's brutal triple digit heat? Swimming, of course! Kenzie loves the pool, she's a little fish! Then again, she's outside so naturally she enjoys herself.

She is very good at only entering the pool at the stairs and if she wants to jump in, she patiently (sort of) waits for us to be there. She had an incident a few months back at my dads pool, so we're thinking it scared her enough to be safer around water!

She kicks her feet and floats alone all the time, we're hoping she'll start understanding the "swimming" process sooner rather than later! Here are some pictures from our most recent swim experience, enjoy!

Shades and arm bubbles... yep, she's all ready!

Catch her John!

So much fun <3

Family Day

John and I take any chance we can to spend the morning, afternoon, and/or evenings together. We live very close to McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, so we are there as often as we can!

Kenzie loves to be outside and adores the park. She gets very excited when we mention the park. She screams and laughs "swings and slides!" Here are some pictures from our recent trip -

She really loved the misters!
She liked the mud more :)

On the move!

She only liked one slide, but she liked it a lot!

Her favorite part of the park was the plastic "mountain" she could climb all by herself!

I had to throw in a picture of John :) He's so handsome!

Quick Update

Hello friends and family!

Kenzie and I (Hillary) had a very rough weekend (5/25-5/26). Kenzie is a tough little girl who isn't a big fan of q-tips. I know this because after her bath, she wiggles and screams when I try to clean her ears! On Friday, the 25th, she wiggled too violently and I scratched her ear canal, causing blood and a major mommy freak-out. It was 7:30 p.m. when this happened, so clearly all pediatricians were off and home. Lucky for me our pediatrician's office has an after-hours triage nurse available. I called and left a message, finally an hour later I was told to take her in immediately to be checked out. Ear trauma is taken seriously. She referred me to "Good Night Pediatrics" and when I *finally* found the location, we were on our way...

...45 minutes later we arrived! Yes, it took that long. I was directed towards the corporate office. BIG TIME GPS FAIL! We arrived at the actual location (3rd Ave and Clarendon) and were luckily the only ones there. Until a child the age of 8 came in with a foot that had been run over... BUMMER.

Around 9:45 we were seen by the doctor who took a long, thorough look in her ear. The canal had, in fact, been scratched. However the ear drum, thank goodness, was unharmed. It was a little red and irritated, but all-in-all OK. Nothing a little antibiotics couldn't treat. She fights us DAILY when it's time to give her the meds and drops, but we get it done! She even gets a little treat for being a good sport ;) She's doing fine, so yay!!

On a much happier note, I've cleaned out and sifted through my camera, and now have more room for more pictures. So enjoy!

Kenzie Scoots!

Kenzie's awesome cousin, Riley, gave her a scooter that was once hers.Kenzie was very hesitant at first, but lately she's taken a very large interest in scootin' around the apartment.

Today we decided to take a little stroll outside and Kenzie was determined to push along side me, she did great! She rode in style!

Also, and I cannot believe I haven't mentioned this yet, but on May 4th Kenzie started a daycare/preschool! It's an in-home care with a certified teacher who has added on beautiful rooms to accommodate her kids/students. She has computers, tv's, desks, cubbies, etc... They have an outdoor area filled with slides, swings, a very large (and shaded) sandbox, and plenty of bikes/wagons to keep the kids entertained! We loved it from the start.....

.... Kenzie, however, did NOT enjoy it. She is getting much better at being left, but still has days of extremem sadness. I hear though, from a little bird, that she is fine within seconds of me leaving (I know, totally normal). She enjoys her friends and Miss Laura says she just adores sitting at the desk during preschool time. Her favorite time, and this doesn't surprise me, is when they go outside. Miss Laura says it's the only time Kenzie doesn't interact with anyone. She plays by herself and is just so happy, being outside is her safe haven. Any other time, she's a social butterfly! She is learning to enunciate words better and is learning to share her day with us. It's beautiful!

That's it for now :) Until next time...

Kenzie and her Tutu

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted a blog about our little Princess, but I promise this post will make up for it!

Kenzie is very much a toddler, through and through. She is smart and sassy, showing us horrible (and slightly funny) tantrums along the way. April 4th was her "half birthday", which means in just six months she'll be turning 3 years old! Can you believe it? Time FLIES when you're having fun... and when you're running around like a crazy parent!

Her latest obsessions are barbie dolls, dress up clothes, and anything Princess. She can't go one day without wearing a tutu! We run plenty of errands and play in many parks fully dressed in Princess attire. Kenzie is a little girl who believes in pink, glitter, and tutu's.

Here are some cute pictures that will hopefully keep you all happy until my next post :) Enjoy!

Baking Babe!

If you haven't heard, I love to bake! I can't go a week without baking up some delicious treat and yesterday Kenzie helped me create (what I think are) amazing pumpkin muffins and bread! Here are some pictures, enjoy!
